In an era of hybrid work, securing access to corporate resources has become more complex than ever. Samsung Knox, in collaboration with Cisco, is proud to take a significant step forward in addressing this challenge. Building on the success of our Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) collaboration for managed Samsung Galaxy devices, we are now extending this capability to unmanaged devices, starting with those running Android 15 (Google V OS).

This enhancement reflects our commitment to adapting security solutions to the needs of modern enterprises, enabling them to confidently implement robust Zero Trust principles across an even broader range of devices.

Expanding horizons: From managed to unmanaged devices

When we launched our ZTNA solution for managed Samsung Galaxy devices, it marked a breakthrough in mobile security. Organizations could enforce app-specific granular policies on managed devices, ensuring access to corporate resources was secure, seamless, and based on Zero Trust principles.

“The modern workplace is no longer defined by boundaries—employees work from everywhere, on every type of device. By extending our ZTNA capabilities to unmanaged devices, we are enabling businesses to confidently adopt this new workplace paradigm without compromising cybersecurity, usability, or productivity. This milestone represents our dedication to staying ahead of evolving security needs.”
Jerry Park, Corporate EVP, GM, and CIO, Global Mobile B2B Team (GMBT), Samsung Electronics

However, as workplaces evolve, so do user needs. Employees increasingly rely on personal (unmanaged) devices to stay connected and productive, making it imperative for organizations to extend secure access beyond traditional, managed environments. Recognizing this shift, we’ve enhanced our ZTNA offering to include unmanaged devices, starting with Android 15.

Revolutionizing secure access: Key advancements of our new solution

With this latest update, Samsung Knox and Cisco Secure Access aim to deliver a comprehensive solution for managed and unmanaged devices, helping to ensure no compromise between security and user experience.

1. Comprehensive device coverage

  • Enable secure access for personal (BYOD) devices, allowing employees to connect to corporate resources from their preferred devices.
  • Extend the same robust security to unmanaged devices as managed ones, helping to ensure consistent protection across the board.

2. Seamless integration with Android 15

  • Leverage Android 15's native Zero Trust functionality for a hassle-free experience.
  • No additional apps or complex configurations are required, making deployment and use simple and intuitive.

3. Granular policy enforcement

  • IT admins can enforce application-specific access policies based on user identity, device posture, and compliance status.
  • Ensure that only authorized users on compliant devices can access sensitive resources, enhancing data protection.

4. Advanced security with modern protocols

  • Utilize MASQUE and QUIC (HTTP/3) protocols to provide quick, secure connections that can prevent exposure of private applications to the internet.
  • Minimize the risk of lateral movement across networks with fine-grained access controls.

5. Enhanced user productivity

  • Simplify the user journey with automatic, secure access to resources without the need for cumbersome VPN setups.
  • Users simply open the app they need and get to work—no delays, no distractions.

Pioneering the future of mobile Zero Trust security

This enhancement is more than a technical milestone; it’s a strategic response to the evolving needs of modern enterprises:

  • For IT teams: Reduce operational complexity by managing both managed and unmanaged devices under a unified Zero Trust framework.
  • For end users: Empower employees with fast, seamless access to corporate resources, eliminating barriers to productivity.
  • For organizations: Safeguard sensitive data and applications without compromising on flexibility or user satisfaction.

Samsung Knox and Cisco are paving the way for a secure, flexible, and productive digital workplace. By expanding ZTNA to unmanaged devices, we are making it possible for organizations to embrace the future of work—securely and confidently.

“ZTNA is rapidly transforming user security. Samsung and Cisco's approach to 'Universal ZTNA' delivers a secure, user-friendly experience that meets the needs of mobile executives, salespeople, contractors, and any mobile user – on a managed or unmanaged device, in the office or remote.”
Jeff Scheaffer, Vice President, Cisco Security Cloud Products

As we continue this journey, our focus remains on addressing the real challenges faced by organizations today while anticipating the needs of tomorrow. Together, we’re not just adapting to the future of work—we’re shaping it. Stay connected as we unveil new capabilities and forge ahead to make secure access smarter, simpler, and more inclusive.
